I'm back on here again. You think that was simple? Think again. When I went, about a week ago, to sign in to the blog ,it asked me for my name and I hit a wrong key.. and then it took me to some welcome new people screen and offered me a free trial and other stuff, but no way to get to my blog. I did all the normal things, I swore, I tried again ,I swore again, I rebooted the computer.. nothing worked.... Until today when my son Lee told me to contact their help desk.. did that and bingo. Why didn't I think to do that? Mostly because there were no links on that welcome new person page -- had to go to information about typepad to finally find some help... I tell you all that just in case you ever hit a wrong key and end up in a free trial you didn't want under a name that isn't your normal screen name.
Okay, now that that is out of the way, what's new you are wondering? Not a heck of a lot. I'm feeling stronger each day, there is no swelling in my feet or eye lids so hoping that means no fluid around the lungs or anywhere else, either.
I didn't go to the Goldberg Brothers book signing in Calabasas for two reasons... first of all not that confident yet about driving any distance with that oxygen.. .and second of all the store said they were not having any kind of audience area or speeches from the authors and no, there wouldn't be anywhere in Barnes and Noble book signing area for me to plug in my oxygen... so that rather ended my idea of going.
The signing was a hit, and if you go to Tod's blog, todgoldberg.com, he has a very funny recap on the day.
Twitter...
Okay, I'm hooked. I was reading it to see what was up with my daughters and then a friend also signed up and then another one, and then I started using it for my own updates and it is fun... Do you twitter? Give it a shot at twitter.com. No, I don't get any kick back if you join. I'm also on facebook but don't do any of the applications, so don't send me hugs on there or virtual plants or anything... I just hit " ignore" on those things. Not being a bitch, but think it is almost a full time job to do all the stuff on facebook.
In the news and on the news:
Lately on MSNBC, and on Larry King Live, too, is a nice and smart young man named Todd Harris who is very informed. Just that he's with the wrong team! Todd is a Republican but we overlook that cus he is like family, has been been best friends with my Tod since they started school back in Walnut Creek. Todd often came to Palm Springs on spring break or Xmas break to visit us and my Tod would also go to Walnut Creek.. then when Tod got married, Todd was his best man. Nice to see a good friendship last like that.
Driving myself...
When I have an appointment that is going to be more than an hour, I go with a driver cus we have to lug along the battery pack for my oxygen, the electrical connection -- it's a schlep and a half, but lately I have been brave and when it isn't an hour or more away, I take myself. Today I met a friend for brunch.. giant step for me! But the biggest step was going to Trader Joe's to buy popcorn.
I wasn't about to pay a driver $20 an hour to take me to Trader Joe's which may have been the driving force behind my getting behind the wheel to my Hondra CRV... but think it was the thought of the good popcorn.
Trader Joe's gourmet white popped corn is the best. Trust me on this. I'm a popcorn eater from way back, from greasy pop corn poppers, air poppers, Jolly Time shake and pop over the stove popcorn and microwave kernels, too. The TJ's can't be beat.
Think I will go have some now!
Jan...you are a total techie. Facebook?!!
I'm a popcorn fanatic myself but have never had TJ's. Think I'll try it soon.
Mazel Tov on the driving and getting out to have brunch with a friend.
